I have a docking station for swapping out hard drives that i got a while ago for rescuing a crashed notebook. I’m going through my history of leftover old slow big 3.5" HDD’s and pulling everything to save and blanking them for later disposal. I literally have the last 25 years of documents, college papers, unfinished projects, and lots and lots of pictures right clicked and saved as when I found them. So heres another. The Beriev Be-200 flying boat!

The world needs more flying boats! I’d love to see someone offer an east coast commuter service using these to fly people from the Hudson or East River to other destinations (you could fly to the Potomac or Boston Harbor, though National and Logan are already sort of right there). Cost of operation aside (I’d imagine these guys are more expensive to operate than a non-boat regional jet), I doubt the FAA or DHS would be happy about more air traffic into dense urban areas though.

The Laguardia Marine-Air Terminal is the origin of international commercial flights from the US. The terminal is still there and serving boston-DC shuttle frequency. Great deli as well. But that’s wher ethe Pan-Am clipper boats operated, and the hangar they used houses Flight Safety’s simulators now. But if flying boats were still viable for coastal work, they’d be working in and out of NYC today.

But think of how much more convenient it would be to fly out of the Marine Aviation building on E23rd:
Or from the Battery, or over by the Javits Center.

One issue would be taxiing on the water under teh low level arrival or departure traffic. but I understand
